Newly Renovated

We’ve been busy this last year. Here’s a little run down of how this, got to this.

It was time to do some seismic strengthening on the Ol’ Girl, but we took it to another level.

Now she’s literally one of the safest places to be in an earthquake and cosmetically, pretty fabulous.

This massive undertaking was about keeping the building around for generations to come, while maintaining her historic significance. Wherever possible, we saved and reused original materials, including the floors and exposed plaster on the walls. All other materials were custom fit, with the majority being handmade.

The process began in February 2021, with moving the entire bar to our outside den…in 24 hours.

If only it was this easy.

Scroll down to see a glimpse of the amount of work that went into strengthening this beautiful building over the last 8 months.

A Work in Progress

We're taking off layers of old paint and taking it back to its original lime wash coating from the early days.

Then we will put on fresh layers of lime wash in Summer to give it a new, original look.

The lime allows the stonework to breathe - which the paint did not. Hence a healthier building.

Our Story

Nestled in the beautiful, historic town of Arrowtown, in the old heritage precinct on Buckingham Street, this building has served many purposes in it’s almost 150 year life span.

But it was in 2011, The Fork and Tap’s story began with a simple idea in mind: Community.

This little gastro pub was founded when Keith, with his passion for craft beers, Jeannie, with her love of cooking, and their two young children, saw the need for a local meeting place to welcome friends, family and visitors alike. Good beer, good wine, good food and a friendly team was a must.

Come in for a visit. You’ll feel right at home in front of our roaring fire and sunny beer garden while the kids enjoy our playground. We welcome all to our Fork and Tap Family.
